Pumpkins and Play

Friday, October 28, 2022 6:00pm - 8:30pm EasternSharon, Connecticut

A combination of a scaled down Audubon Kids’ Day and our expanding community Pumpkin Trail, “Pumpkins and Play” welcomes guests to come walk along the main grounds and view carved and decorated pumpkin entry displays all lit up in the darkness after sunset! Children can have the opportunity to play carnival-type games, meet some friendly animal characters from our Enchanted Forest, view live birds of prey up close, try out some interactive hoop dancing, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, and watch a unique LED Hoop Performance from Creative Game Parties around 7:45pm. Bring your own flashlight for the trail and come in costume if you'd like! A Admission for this event is $15 per carload.

Interested in submitting a carved or decorated pumpkin for the trail?  Please see the info on our Pumpkin Trail event page on how to submit your entry! The more entries we receive, the bigger and better our trail!

Special thanks to our sponsors: Oppenheimer Environmental Fund, Sharon Hospital/Nuvance Health, and Northwest Realty. Please contact us for sponsorship information.

SAC Community Pumpkin Trail

Saturday, October 29, 2022 - Sunday, November 06, 2022 7:00am - 6:00pm EasternSharon, Connecticut

The Sharon Audubon Center is once again hosting a fun community Pumpkin Trail daily from sunrise to sunset from Saturday, Oct. 29 through November 6, with a special night time viewing event, “Pumpkins and Play,” on Friday, October 28 from 6-8:30pm (Rain date October 29.)

We need YOU in order to make this happen and we are hoping to grow this event each year!  Everyone is welcome to submit a pumpkin or two (or four or ten!) for the Pumpkin Trail. Pumpkins may either be carved (freehand or stenciled,) or decorated (painted, using recycled materials, etc.)   Be creative; think funny or spooky faces, nature or animal themed, etc. No inappropriate, political, or gory entries will be permitted, as this is a family friendly event.  We will also accept gourds that are decorated as animals. All children (12 and under) will receive a small "prize" for entering!

This year, groups are encouraged to enter a group submission. Scout groups, church groups, school groups, local businesses, emergency services, etc. are all welcome to submit entries together, and your group will be recognized alongside your display All individual and group pumpkin submissions must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Entries may be dropped off at the Audubon Center on the front lawn area from October 25th through October 27th (deadline is Oct. 27th by 12:00pm.).  Drop-off procedures for pumpkin entries are listed on the entry form.

Entry forms can be found on the Sharon Audubon Center Facebook page and Sharon.audubon.org. For more information, email [email protected]. Special thanks to our sponsors: Oppenheimer Environmental Fund, Sharon Hospital/Nuvance Health, and Northwest Realty. Please contact us for sponsorship information.
