Show Notes

Starting this Thursday, Jan. 30th, Adaptive Sports Foundation will be hosting their annual ski/snowboard event for 28 vets and their families.  This is going to be a very interesting year—the Wounded Warrior Project is returning with their national spokespersons because they are filming a WWP commercial at the mountain.  There will also be an exciting announcement on Friday by several NYS legislators about a bill that will benefit vets statewide.

The Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) at Windham Mountain is proud to host its 17th annual Learn to Ski and Ride event for United States veterans injured during active duty. This year’s event is part of ASF’s Warriors in Motion© (WIM) program.  ASF partners with Windham Mountain (www.windhammountain.com) to bring approximately 40 wounded servicemen and women and their families to Windham Mountain for three days of winter sports activity, fun and relaxation.

The Learn to Ski & Ride event involves the veteran and his or her entire family in sports they can continue to do together after their return home. ASF volunteer instructors guide warriors and their families through experiences that give them the skills to ski and snowboard. A secondary goal of the event is to allow participants to spend quality recreational and social time with their friends, family and fellow veterans.
