Show Notes

Montage Antiques is hosting an exciting art show, which opens this Saturday, Jan. 14. Featuring have a large collection of works by the French artist Robert Bonfils

Bonfils was born in France in 1886 and died in 1972.

http://montageantiques.com/In this show, Montage shows a selection of the early print and design work that Bonfils was known for, but also a rare, if not completely unique collection of his paintings on canvas. These early 20th Century paintings capture a world first between the wars, then post WWII. His wry social observations give us a window into the bourgeois lifestyle in France during that time. His lively beach scenes, nudes, still lifes, interiors and self portraits paint a picture of a world at once long in the past, and yet palpable and present. His muscular use of paint and his bold, stylized figures are deeply grounded in the modernist movement.

This is a great opportunity, not only to see such a broad range of this artist’s career, but to purchase works that have long been held in a private collection.

The show will run from Jan. 14- Feb 6.
