Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. Rodgers & Hammerstein suggested that rather than write one song for the play-with-music, why not let them write the entire score for the story as a musical? That is, if Martin and Halliday wouldn't mind waiting for a year, since at the time they were in the throes of FLOWER DRUM SONG. The response from Martin and Halliday: "We'll wait." The result was THE SOUND OF MUSIC. |
HMTS is a theatre organization based at Housatonic Valley Regional High School (Falls Village, CT) where students of all levels of experience are encouraged to participate, either onstage or backstage, in the annual musical. Founded in 2003 by Lori Belter and Michael Berkeley, HMTS is proudly entering its 17th year of producing musicals at the high school.
