Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
to provide $350 billion in funding to local governments
across the country to respond the impacts of the Covid-19 emergency.

The Sharon Board of Selectmen convened the Sharon ARPA Advisory Committee as an ad hoc committee
of volunteers to advise the Selectmen on options for allocating the $795,811 in federal funds that Sharon received.

The Committee will meet twice a month at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday and third Monday of each month until the
Board of Selectmen has made final decisions on how to spend the funds.
All funding must be obligated by Dec. 31, 2024 and spent by Dec. 31, 2026.

The U.S Treasury published guidelines for how the funds are to be spent and highlighted six allowed categories of spending:

Public participation in Committee meetings
is welcome and encouraged.
